As an Asian American, it truly breaks my heart to see the news every day. Ever since the start of the pandemic, there has been an upsurge of violence towards Asians all over the world.

I was terrified but hoped and prayed it’ll just stop. I truly wanted to just pretend as if the heinous crimes weren’t happening, and I was still safe. It was too painful for me to face reality. 

The fear didn’t stop, it only intensified over the past month as hate crimes against us began to spike all over the country. Our elders were targeted, assaulted, and killed. And they still are to this day. It pained me to see my people get murdered. I was crippled with fear that my parents, grandparents, sister, or any of my loved ones to be another victim of a hate crime.

I wanted to make a difference but what can I do, right? That’s when I was reminded — I am a first-generation college graduate with a set of skills that allowed me to start my own business. It’s all thanks to the unconditional love and support of my parents. The same parents that immigrated to a foreign country and worked all their life to give me a taste of the American Dream. I know I can make a difference and so can you. 

I want to use my small platform to help my community and to raise donations for various organizations fighting for AAPI awareness.
